Tanaka Universal is a Japanese shoe brand founded in 1942. They restore the machines, shoe molds, soles, cutting knives, etc. that were left behind in shoe factories in Eastern Europe that produced high-quality military training shoes as a military industry during the war, and reproduce them using the manufacturing methods of the time. They have reproduced a number of shoes, including the world's first reproduction of the German Trainer, a training shoe for the German military that was discontinued in 1994, using the wooden lasts, soles, materials, and machines of the time and the traditional manufacturing methods.
