(K24 is almost pure gold with 99.99% purity). While higher purity increases the value of gold, it also makes it softer and more susceptible to damage, making it unsuitable for jewelry processing. By mixing it with other metals (alloys) to create 18K or 14K alloys, it gains the robustness suitable for practical use.
