OPEN-EDITIONS is a San Francisco-based artist group founded in 2015. The brand aims to pay a portion of royalties to artists through the manufacture and sale of highly artistic products designed together with contemporary artists belonging to the brand, and to share the artists' own stories. The "THANK YOU TOTE" was created by artist Lauren DiCioccio in response to the ban on disposable plastic bags in San Francisco in 2007. The unique design is based on the design of plastic bags used in American groceries and markets, with the words "THANK YOU" embroidered on the body of the shiny polyester fabric. By adopting a design that is the exact opposite of eco, the bag conveys a message of abolishing plastic bags and contains irony.
This item samples the design of the common plastic bags found in American supermarkets.
Made from lightweight, durable, crinkled recycled nylon.
The message part is depicted with fine, three-dimensional embroidery.
It has a large opening and ample gusset, making it just the right size for everyday use.
Although the design is the polar opposite of eco, it conveys an eco-friendly message by being something that can be used without being disposable.
